It's often been the case that foreign born composers have helped Americans discover the rich musical resources of the United States. "Made In America" explores chamber music inspired by the blues, African-American spirituals, Native American song and dance and other American musical sources. We'll look at how the American experiences of Dvořák, Ravel, Prokofiev, Bartók, Loeffler and others have shaped their chamber music.

Dave Beck is an award-winning host and producer at KUOW Public Radio. An active cellist as well as broadcaster, Dave is a member of the Auburn Symphony Orchestra and has played principal cello in the Bellevue Philharmonic and Seattle Philharmonic Orchestras. |
