Tasting Notes- July 6

An Unforgettable Evening of Music, Food, and Conversation

A Seattle Chamber Music Society’s Summer Festival favorite, Tasting Notes, returns on Monday, July 6, with a delicious new twist; a full dinner of the chef creations included with the show! Two performances are offered at 5:00 PM and 8:30 PM, bringing together acclaimed SCMS musicians and some of Seattle’s most celebrated culinary talent for a one-night-only event at The Triple Door.

Hosted by SCMS Artistic Director James Ehnes and acclaimed chef, author, and New York Times food critic J. Kenji López-Alt, Tasting Notes offers a one-of-a-kind experience where live chamber music, culinary artistry, and engaging conversation come together on a single stage. This year’s event introduces an exciting new format twist, transforming the evening into a complete dining experience.

Guests will enjoy a four-course family-style dinner created by this year’s guest chefs and served directly to each table while the evening unfolds around them. Throughout the performance, live chamber music, cooking demonstrations, and lively discussions explore the creative connections between music and food, creating an engaging evening that brings these art forms together in unexpected ways.

This year’s culinary lineup features some of the Pacific Northwest’s most celebrated chefs. J. Kenji López-Alt, bestselling author of The Food Lab and The Wok and host of Kenji’s Cooking Show, is joined by Mutsuko Soma, chef-owner of Kamonegi and Hannyatou; Taichi Kitamura, chef-owner of Sushi Kappo Tamura; and Christina Woods, founder and head chef of Temple Pastries and a 2026 James Beard Award semifinalist. Together, they have crafted a menu that celebrates creativity, craftsmanship, and the shared artistry that defines both exceptional cooking and chamber music.
