Musical America’s “2018 Instrumentalist of the Year,” Augustin Hadelich has performed with every major orchestra in the U.S., as well as orchestras in Europe and the Far East. He makes his Severance Hall debut with the Cleveland Orchestra in October 2019. One highlight of Mr. Hadelich’s 2017-18 season was a return to the Boston Symphony, performing the Ligeti Concerto with Thomas Adès conducting, featuring the world premiere of Adès’s new cadenza for the concerto. Additional highlights included performances with the San Francisco Symphony and the symphony orchestras of Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Montréal, Seattle, and St. Louis. Recent international performances include the BBC Philharmonic, Concertgebouw Orchestra, Danish National Symphony, Hong Kong Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, Mozarteum Orchestra, NHK Symphony, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, São Paulo Symphony, Seoul Philharmonic, and the radio orchestras of Cologne, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Saarbrücken, and Stuttgart. A prolific recording artist, Augustin Hadelich won a 2016 Grammy Award for his recording of Dutilleux’s Violin Concerto, L’arbre des songes, with the Seattle Symphony. His newest disc – the complete Paganini Caprices for Warner Classics – was released in January. Mr. Hadelich was named Gold Medalist of the 2006 International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. He has also received the inaugural Warner Music Prize in 2015 and an honorary doctorate from the University of Exeter. He plays the 1723 “Ex-Kiesewetter” Stradivari violin, on loan from Clement and Karen Arrison through the Stradivari Society of Chicago. (augustin-hadelich.com)
