Experience SCMS Summer Festival Across the Eastside This Summer

Seattle Chamber Music Society’s 2026 Summer Festival is expanding across the region in exciting new ways—and for Eastside audiences, this season offers extended opportunities to experience The World’s Largest Chamber Music Party performances closer to home.

From two Mainstage concerts at Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue to four free outdoor performances from The Concert Truck® in parks and public spaces across the Eastside, Summer Festival 2026 brings an extraordinary music lineup this season. On the 250th anniversary of the United States, the 2026 Summer Festival explores the composers who shaped the American classical voice, with every program featuring music connected to America through its composers, inspirations, or cultural impact.

Adding to the convenience this year is Sound Transit’s new 2 Line light rail extension, making it easier than ever to attend Summer Festival performances from across the region. For concertgoers heading to Meydenbauer Center, the Bellevue Downtown Station is located immediately adjacent to the venue—offering a seamless transit option for a night of music in downtown Bellevue.

Mainstage Performances at Meydenbauer Center

This summer marks SCMS’s first Summer Festival performances at Meydenbauer Center, bringing two unforgettable Mainstage concerts to the Eastside.

Wednesday, July 15 | 7:30 PM

At Meydenbauer Center, Summer Festival Concert #4 features a program spanning Beethoven, Barber, and Suk—performed by an extraordinary lineup of SCMS artists.

The evening includes Beethoven’s String Trio Op. 9 No.1, Barber’s String Quartet, Op.11 featuring violinists James Ehnes and Amy Schwartz Moretti, and Suk’s sweeping Piano Quartet in A minor performed by Inon Barnatan, Tessa Lark, Matthew Lipman, and Jonathan Swensen.

Friday, July 17 | 7:30 PM

Summer Festival Concert #5 continues the Bellevue residency with a richly varied program featuring Amy Beach’s Piano Trio in A minor, Brahms’s Violin Sonata No. 1 in G Major performed by James Ehnes and Inon Barnatan, and Mendelssohn’s String Quintet No. 1 in A Major featuring artists Alexander Kerr, Noah Geller, Matthew Lipman, Meredith Kufchak, and Jonathan Swensen.

Both Meydenbauer concerts also include free pre-concert performances beginning at 6:30 PM.

Free Eastside Performances from The Concert Truck

The Concert Truck—SCMS’s mobile concert venue and “concert hall on wheels”—returns this summer for its largest regional residency yet. Now “fueled by” Seattle Chamber Music Society since acquiring the truck in 2025, The Concert Truck transforms parks, neighborhoods, and public spaces into vibrant live classical music experiences.

This summer’s Eastside appearances include four free performances:

  • Saturday, June 20 | 12:00 PM
    Ashwood Playfield
  • Sunday, June 21 | 4:00 PM
    Bellevue Downtown Park
  • Sunday, June 28 | 11:00 AM
    Bellevue Botanical Garden
  • Monday, July 6 | 6:00 PM
    Lake Sammamish State Park

These roughly hour-long performances are free and open to the public, creating casual and welcoming opportunities to experience chamber music outdoors with friends, family, and community.

A Summer Festival That Connects the Region

Summer Festival 2026 is designed to reach audiences all across the greater Seattle area—from concert halls to parks, neighborhoods, islands, and community gathering spaces.

For Eastside audiences, this year’s festival offers the perfect opportunity to experience SCMS in new ways: evening concerts at Meydenbauer Center accessible directly from light rail, and free outdoor performances at Ashwood Playfield, Bellevue Downtown Park, Bellevue Botanical Garden, or a beautiful summer evening concert beside Lake Sammamish.

Whether you are a longtime chamber music fan or discovering SCMS for the first time, Summer Festival 2026 invites you to experience extraordinary music throughout the Eastside all summer long.
