Mariya Kim was born in Sevastopol (Ukraine) in a musician family. At the age of 6 she started to study the piano at the Music-school in Sevastopol, where she graduated in 1998 under her mother Prof. Tatiana Kim. In 1998 she entered the Hochschule für Musik & Theater in Hannover (Germany). Between 2009-2011 she studied at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.
In the last years, Mariya Kim has been named a top prizewinner at many International Piano Competitions: International Piano Competition “In Memory of V.Horowitz”, Patras International Piano Competition, “Piano Campus” International Piano Competition, VI Paderewski International Piano Competition, Concorso Internazionale Pianistico “Scriabin”, Busoni International Piano Competition in Bolzano, and the Seoul International Music Competition in Korea.
Concert engagements have taken Kim throughout Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Germany, Austria, Holland, Italy, France, Taiwan, Greece, Turkey, Malaysia, Korea, China and USA.
She was recently the recipient of a Yamaha Foundation award.
