Inon Barnatan Piano

Inon Barnatan is the recipient of both a 2009 Avery Fisher Career Grant and Lincoln Center’s 2015 Martin E. Segal Award. A regular soloist with many orchestras, the Israeli pianist recently completed his tenure as the inaugural Artist-in-Association of the New York Philharmonic. Recent orchestral debuts include the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Hong Kong, London and Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestras, and Chicago, Baltimore, Seattle and National Symphonies. 2019, marks Barnatan’s first season as Music Director of La Jolla Music Society’s SummerFest. In recital this season, Barnatan returned to New York’s 92nd Street Y and London’s Wigmore Hall, in addition to making Carnegie Hall appearances with soprano Renee Fleming and cellist Alisa Weilerstein. His passion for contemporary music has seen him commission and perform many works, including premieres of pieces by Adès , Currier, Dorman, Nicolson, Norman, and Pintscher. Barnatan’s discography includes recordings of Schubert’s solo piano works, music by Messiaen, and Rachmaninov and Chopin sonatas with cellist Alisa Weilerstein.
