Seattle-based violist Márta Hortobágyi Lambert is an active performer and educator whose work is distinguished by collaborative artistry and a commitment to community engagement. In January 2024, Márta was appointed Director of Education and Community Engagement at Seattle Chamber Music Society, where she leads the Academy for Chamber Music and education-based community initiatives.
Márta has taught at the Eisman Center for Preparatory Studies, Kinhaven Music School, and Suzuki on the Island, and currently serves on the faculty of the SCMS Academy for Chamber Music. In 2026, she served as a jury member for the Seattle Young Artists Music Festival and presented a masterclass for Chamber Music Guild.
Márta performs as a substitute musician with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Opera, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and has appeared as a guest artist with Jigsaw Chamber Ensemble, Flatirons Chamber Music Festival, and The Concert Truck. An accomplished chamber musician, Márta has appeared at festivals including the Ravinia Steans Music Institute, Donaueschingen Musiktage with Talea Ensemble, Prussia Cove, and Kneisel Hall.
Márta was the recipient of the Dean’s Prize from Yale University in 2019 and earned her Doctor of Musical Arts from The Juilliard School in 2024, where she was awarded the Richard F. French Doctoral Prize for her dissertation, The Viola as a Voice of Lamentation.
When not performing or teaching, Márta enjoys reading, dog watching, and being outside.
