
Donovan is based in Michigan, where he is currently the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s African American Fellow. Donovan is in demand elsewhere around the country as an orchestral oboist, regularly playing Guest Principal Oboe with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, and frequently appears with the Pittsburgh, Indianapolis and Nashville Symphony Orchestras. Equally in demand as a chamber musician, Donovan regularly presents concerts with the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, including a Musicians from Marlboro Tour this fall. In the pit, Donovan spent two years as the Boston Opera Collaborative’s Principal Oboist, and additionally appears in productions with the Pacific Northwest Ballet. Donovan was fortunate to spend his last two summers immersed in chamber music at the Marlboro Music Festival. He has also attended the Aspen and Chautauqua Music Festivals. With the little time he has away from his oboe, Donovan loves to cook and spend time with his dog.
