Sonata for Violin and Cello

Ravel focuses on melody above all else, creating an unending flow from start to finish in this sonata that was written as part of a concert to honor the recently deceased Debussy.

Sonata for Cello and Piano in A minor, Op. 36

Filled with as wide of an emotional range as any of his works, Grieg borrowed several melodies from earlier compositions to create a passionate sonata.

String Quartet in G Major, Op. 106

In contrast to his earlier works, Dvořák concentrated his music on short musical motifs, rather than the long sustained melodies found in many of his other string quartets.
