As an autonomous ensemble, chamber music musicians have the power to decide how a piece of music should be performed. With its unique collaborative style, Chamber Music nurtures self-confidence by emphasizing the importance of individual parts within a cohesive piece of art.
To promote Chamber Music in Seattle Public Schools, SCMS is committed to work for three years with four schools: Ballard High School, Cleveland High School, Hamilton Middle School, and Madison Middle School. Every year in early Spring, a String Quartet led by cellist and Cornish faculty Paige Stockley visits each school once a week to perform for students and teach masterclasses for three to four consecutive weeks.
