Emily Daggett Smith has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Zankel Hall, Weill Hall, and Symphony Space in New York; Disney Hall in Los Angeles, and Symphony Hall in Boston. She is the founding first violinist of the Tessera Quartet, an emerging New York-based ensemble whose recent highlights include collaborations with Orli Shaham at (le) Poisson Rouge and recital appearances with pianists Claude Frank and Hamish Milne, as well as performances of Lowell Liebermann’s Piano Quintet with the composer at the piano. An active chamber musician, Ms. Smith has performed with such artists as Toby Appel, Andrés Díaz, Claude Frank, Joseph Kalichstein, and Eugenia Zukerman. She has performed at Ravinia's Steans Institute, Banff International masterclasses, Kneisel Hall, and the New York String Orchestra Seminar. She has appeared on PBS's national broadcast, Live from Lincoln Center, as well as on NPR's From the Top. She frequently performs with the Grammy-nominated Metropolis Ensemble, most recently in an innovative Brownstone concert, in which ten musicians performed in different areas of a three-story Brownstone in a "site-specific electro-acoustic composition/installation". Also a violist, last season she performed Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante with violinist Stefan Jackiw and the New York Classical Players. Ms. Smith received her Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School in 2009, where she is now pursuing graduate studies. www.emilydaggettsmith.com
