Violist Richard O’Neill, EMMY Award Winner, two-time Grammy nominee and Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient, has appeared as soloist with the London, Los Angeles and Seoul Philharmonics, the BBC, KBS and Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, the Wurttemburg and Vienna Chamber Orchestras with Sir Andrew Davis, Vladimir Jurowski, Nicolas McGegan and Yannick Nezet-Sequin. Highlights of this season include collaborations with Gidon Kremer, concertos with Kremerata Baltica, performances for UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and Korean President Park and the complete Beethoven quartet cycle celebrating the 10th Anniversary of DITTO with the Ehnes Quartet. A recording artist with Deutsche Grammophon, he has made eight solo albums that have sold more than 150,000 copies. A member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center he frequently collaborates with the world’s greatest artists. Elliott Carter, John Harbison, Huang Ruo and Paul Chihara have written and dedicated works to him. His chamber music project DITTO has introduced tens of thousands to chamber music in South Korea and Japan. The first violist to receive the Artist Diploma from The Juilliard School, he was honored with a Proclamation from the New York City Council. A native of Sequim, he serves as Goodwill Ambassador for the Korean Red Cross, OXFAM and UNICEF and runs marathons for charity.
