Recipient of an Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2008, violinist Karen Gomyo has performed with orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, the Danish National Symphony, Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony, and Sydney Symphony. Highlights of the 2017–18 season included a tour of Australia and New Zealand, as well as her debut with the Kristiansand Symfoniorkester. Return engagements include performances with the St. Louis Symphony, National Arts Centre Orchestra, and the Milwaukee, Montreal, Cincinnati, Detroit and Indianapolis symphony orchestras. Gomyo performed the U.S. premiere of Pintscher’s Violin Concerto Mar’eh with the National Symphony. In recital and chamber music, Gomyo has performed in festivals throughout the U.S. and Europe. Gomyo is deeply interested in the Nuevo Tango of Astor Piazzolla, and has an ongoing special project with Piazzolla’s longtime pianist and tango legend Pablo Ziegler and his partners.
