Chengwen Winnie Lai joined the Seattle Symphony in 2012. She was previously a member of the IRIS Orchestra and Jupiter Symphony Players. Lai has performed with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the San Diego Symphony, the Metropolitan Opera, and has toured with the Metropolitan Opera to Japan. As an avid chamber musician, Lai has performed with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Family Programs, Argento Chamber Ensemble, Chamber Musician at Bargemusic, and Marlboro Music Festival. Lai has taught at the Chamber Music Conference at Bennington, Youth Orchestra of CYCNY, and served as the teaching artist at the Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall. Lai has recorded Sonata for Oboe and Piano for James Cohn’s Album, A Grecian Festival. As a native of Taiwan, Lai was on the fellowship program at Ensemble Connect, and holds Bachelor's and Master of Music degrees from The Juilliard School.
