was winner of the 1987 Naumburg International Piano Competition. He enjoys a remarkable and versatile career that has taken him throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia, and South Africa since his debut at the age of twelve with Beethoven's C major Concerto after only two years of study. Highlights in the U.S. include performances with the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Symphonies of Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, and Detroit, as well as major coast-to-coast recital venues. Recent highlights overseas include appearances at the Wigmore Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Suntory Hall in Tokyo and a comprehensive South African tour. Summer festivals include Aspen, Ravinia, Mostly Mozart, and Blossom, among many others, where he regularly collaborates with the world's foremost instrumentalists and singers. He has recorded 15 CDs, and is a professor of piano and chamber music at the University of Texas at Austin, where he heads the division of keyboard studies. A student of Adolph Hallis in Johannesburg, South Africa, he came to the U.S. in 1983 to pursue graduate studies at the University of Cincinnati with Bela Siki. This is his 19th year at the Seattle Chamber Music Society!
