Zachary Kellogg

is equally comfortable in a tuxedo playing a Mozart Flute Concerto as he is in jeans grooving on a Charlie Parker tune in one of Seattle's jazz clubs. Zachary, the son of two professional musicians, was recently named a winner in the National Flute Association's 2009 Jazz Flute Big Band Competition and Zachary will be performing at the National Flute Association Convention in August in New York City. In March, Zachary won 2nd Place at the Music Teachers National Association National Competition in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to going to Atlanta, Zachary won 1st Place in both the State and Regional MTNA competitions. Zachary, a homeschooled 6th grader and is a flute student of Bonnie Blanchard; a piccolo student of Wendy Wilhelmi; and a jazz student of Greg Metcalf, was also recently named Outstanding Soloist at the 2009 Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival and is the 2009 Lower Division 1st Place Winner of the Seattle Flute Society's Horsfall Competition. He has had the privilege to play for many masterclasses, including for Sarah Jackson of the L.A. Philharmonic. He has been playing the flute for five years.
