Our mission is to foster the appreciation of chamber music in our region by presenting performances featuring world-class musicians in accessible and inviting formats, with an emphasis on developing a broad-based sustainable audience through education and community outreach.
Each year, Seattle Chamber Music Society (SCMS) presents a winter and summer festival.
In February, SCMS presents a weekend filled with chamber music at Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall at Benaroya Hall. This festival includes four concerts with a special recital on Saturday evening, which features a specific composer or instrument. There is also a family concert.
In July, SCMS presents four-weeks of chamber music, held at the Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall at Benaroya Hall. Now in its 31st year, the summer festival also includes pre-concert recitals and family concerts as well as a new chamber music work, commissioned each year.
In addition to its high quality performances, SCMS offers education and outreach programs to encourage audience appreciation and understanding of chamber music. These programs bring audiences of all ages in close contact with musicians and their music through informal, accessible and enjoyable formats.
